Student Testimonials

The NOTA Scholarship empowers and encourages me to continue my education and do my best. I am grateful for the financial support NOTA has given me, as it has been a very challenging time this past year. I am ecstatic to know that I can count on my state organization to help me excel academically and professionally, share their resources, and be a part of my support system. Through their help, I attained educational materials that will prepare me for fieldwork this summer and allowed me to attend the AOTA INSPIRE conference. Thank you, NOTA! - Angela Terencio

Being awarded with one of NOTAs scholarships while pursuing my career as an OTA has provided me with significant support during this year of global pandemic. As I embark on my fieldwork journey, this scholarship gives me more financial support to take full advantage of this learning experience. It is really meaningful as a first-generation student to know Nevada's OT community is supporting me in this path of becoming an OT practitioner by helping me reach my professional goals in such challenging times. - Magdalena Laurito

I am unbelievably grateful to receive a scholarship from the Nevada Occupational Therapy Association. This scholarship will provide me the unique opportunity to meet my academic and professional goals as I enter the field as a new occupational therapist. I am a proud local Nevadan. While growing up in a small town in Northeastern Nevada, I watched my family, friends, and peers face significant obstacles to medical care. As a new practitioner, I hope to increase access to care and improve the well-being of Nevadans across the lifespan. I have initiated my doctoral capstone that will improve aging in place for rural Nevadans through telehealth. This scholarship will provide me the financial assistance I need to obtain an aging in place certification and improve occupational justice for individuals across our beloved state. - Jasmine Giles

Contribute

We appreciate any contributions to help us continue to provide scholarship opportunities to our members. There is no minimum amount required, and you can choose what contribution is comfortable for you. You don’t have to be a NOTA member to contribute and help support the OTs in your community.

Student Survey

We would love to know more about occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant student interests and how we can better serve your needs. Please take a moment to complete the following survey.

The NOTA Student Capstone Hub is a space to celebrate student innovation, promote the profession of occupational therapy, and foster collaboration across the OT community. Students from all OT/OTA programs in Nevada are encouraged to participate!

The hub exists to highlight the creativity, expertise, and impact of future occupational therapy practitioners in OT/OTA programs across the state. NOTA wants to platform our students and create a space to share their work with a broader audience, including practitioners, educators, and the public, while inspiring others through their achievements.

We invite students from all OT/OTA programs in Nevada to submit their capstone projects for inclusion in this dynamic online resource.

We are seeking submissions with relevance to occupational therapy practice and align with one or more of the following areas:

  • Clinical practice
  • Scholarship or research
  • Administration or leadership
  • Advocacy
  • Program or policy development
  • Education or theory development

Projects should highlight innovation, impact, and the application of OT principles. For complete submission guidelines, please click here.

OT & OTA Programs in Nevada

Are you a student interested in getting into an OT or OTA program? Are you having difficulty getting those required shadowing hours?

Many universities recognize the difficulty with obtaining shadowing hours during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most programs now allow for alternative experiences to count for your shadowing experience.

NOTA Student Internships

NOTA offers a one-credit hour internship for credit through UNLV’s Honors College. Community internships are also available for non-UNLV Honors College students.

Email nevadaota@gmail.com if interested.

NOTA recently selected interns for basic program evaluation skills via surveys and other data collection methods. Other internship opportunities included legislative interns who provided resources for and organized Hill Day in Carson City.
